1. Sensorial Customization: In the New Zealand market, we are seeing a demand for robots with adjustable sensory outputs. For children with ASD, the ability to mute mechanical sounds or dim LED brightness is crucial to avoid sensory overload.
2. Tele-presence for Remote Learners: Given NZ’s geography, robots are being used to help children who are "school-refusing" due to anxiety or ADHD stay connected to their Wellington or Auckland classrooms from home.
3. Data-Driven IEPs: Modern robotics platforms now export interaction data that can be integrated into Individual Education Plans (IEPs), allowing NZ educators to track a student's progress in eye contact, turn-taking, and verbal response time.
4. Plush AI Integration: The shift towards "soft" robotics—using materials like plush fabrics—makes AI more approachable and less intimidating for younger children in early childhood centers across NZ.
